Christmas season is soon approaching! My children are excited, and frankly, I am too!

In preparation for Christmas we have been reading their favorite Christmas-themed picture books each evening before bedtime.

Along with our old favorites like The Night Before Christmas, Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, (Fraggle Rock) Sprocket’s Christmas Tale, and Splat the Cat: Christmas Countdown, we have also been enjoying three new favorites: Peppa Pig and the Christmas Play, Maisy’s Christmas Party, and Little Robin’s Christmas.

Peppa Pig and the Christmas Play by Candlewick Entertainment

Peppa Pig and her friends are well-loved in our home, so Abby and Oscar were elated to read a Christmas story featuring Peppa.

Peppa’s class is putting on a Christmas play. The excited friends see Santa around town and invite him to attend their play. But Peppa worries, will he attend their play?

A fun read for the holiday, my kids enjoyed this book. If your little ones love Peppa they will too!

Maisy’s Christmas Party With 6 Festive Letters and Secret Surprises! by Lucy Cousins

We have borrowed several Maisy books from our local library, so it was fun to read a brand new story.

Maisy Mouse is preparing for a Christmas party and has invited all of her friends. Each friend mails a reply back to Maisy, plus a fun surprise!

READ  Loti Wellness Box: Subscription Box Review #11

My kids enjoyed this book the most of the three we recieved. As we read it they took turns opening the envelopes from Maisy’s friends, excitedly finding the surprises inside. In fact, each time we’ve read it they’ve squabbled over who gets to flip the pages and who gets to collect the surprises!

This book is cute and filled with bright and vibrant illustrations. I like the idea of the letters Maisy receives from her friends, after all, who doesn’t like to get some real mail? The only downside I have found is that although the pages are thicker than those in most books, with love and excited hands some of the envelopes have torn a little.

I believe other children will love and enjoy this book as much as mine do.

Little Robin’s Christmas by Jan Fearnley

Little Robin is completely new to our family, but she is now very dear. This book was my personal favorite of the group.

Little Robin is excited for the coming of Christmas and loves wearing her sweaters in the cold winter weather.

She meets several animals who are quite cold and miserable and, sweetly, gives her sweater to someone new each day. At last, having given them all away, Robin has no more sweaters to keep her nice and toasty.

What will Little Robin do? Not to worry, someone special has noticed Robin’s good deeds.

I adore this story about kindness and giving to those in need, a message that can never be told enough. It is a good reminder, especially in the Christmas season. I also loved the sweet illustrations on every page. I’m sure Little Robin’s Christmas will soon be a favorite of yours too.
